The Global School Partnership Programme was introduced to our school in the year 2005 by the British Council. Later, it was named as the Connecting Classroom Programme. It is a curriculum based Global Educational Programme for the schools in Sri Lanka to enrich education and develop core skills to provide young learners the opportunity to become responsible and globally well informed citizens. We have a Secondary and a Primary school link which were introduced by the British Council.
The Programme enabled the students to improve English Language, inter-cultural understanding, communicative and collaborative skills, creativity etc which enhances the concept of ‘Internationalism’ into the local curriculum.
Though the programme came to an end in the year 2015 in Sri Lanka, our partner schools were willing to continue. Therefore, few projects are lined up at present. We have completed over ninety curriculum based collaborative projects successfully since 2005.
We are fortunate enough to collaborate with the schools in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom and India. We collaborated with St. Mary’s High School, Lurgan, Northern Ireland, St, Bedes Sixth Form School, Lankershire, Triangle C of E Primary School, Halifax, Yorkshire, N.H.Goel World School, Raipur, India, Delhi Public School, Raipur, India, New Era Progressive School, Raipur, India. We also have worked with the Durham County Council, United Kingdom for an International European Project representing Sri Lanka.
The students and teachers benefit from the programme as it opens the door to visit the partner schools, which is a golden opportunity to experience the diverse culture and education system. Students also get an opportunity to participate in the Annual Queen’s Commonwealth Country Essay competition. We have been a part of the Promotional DVD in 2009, by the London British Council,U.K. as an exemplary Partner School in Sri Lanka, along with St.Mary’s High School, Northern Ireland. The CCP has brought honour, many awards ,recognition and exposure to the school, highlighting Badi- ud-din Girls’ College, in South Asia, African Countries and in Northern Ireland and United Kingdom.
